Farewell! Farewell! Great Ship, TITANIC!

Tonight was closing night of Titanic: The Musical which I was very glad to be a part of! The things I learned about history, people, skills, spiritual thoughts on the Gospel were irreplaceable. I don't care if people came and all they got was "it was a good show with music put to history" or whatever they thought -- because I was able to learn and grow from this experience. I got to know many more people both in the cast and on the actual ship, Titanic. We had cast appreciation night tonight which made me know that the friendships I've made at the SCERA can last. I love the opportunity Acting Up presents to all those who participate with it. I'm so glad that it is an atmosphere which I feel safe in. I can separate myself from school problems and be engulfed by the love I feel when I come to those I know at the SCERA. I was upset with some people, but then I realized how blessed I am to have such caring friends at the SCERA.

We were given a name to specifically appreciate tonight and I got Dallin Penrod. I was nervous about what to do because our friendship consists of only a few conversations every once in a while. I got him an Iron Man coloring book because he loves Iron Man. I was so relieved when I saw that he loved it! The gifts and notes that were exchanged throughout the room created such a friendly atmosphere. Then we signed posters and I read them when I got home. I loved everything that people wrote and I felt so special.

On another note, I made Student Council! I'm so excited for everything to come!

Schedules were a little cramped because I didn't know about what needed to be done for Student Council so I couldn't do a lot this past two weeks because Titanic had priority since I was committed to it before Student Council started. I went through many battles of guilt which I can push aside now that I can plan for future conflicts better. Well, since it is past 1:00 AM I should go to bed. But SPRING BREAK is this week! I have my interview for Allyse's Bridal Fashion Team on Monday and no other plans but homework so I've got an open week!

In a Mix of my Busy Life

February seems like a blur.

I went to Preference, which was fun and exciting. Shaundra had a Allyse's Bridal Prom Fashion Show at the mall so we got to wear pretty dresses that day with a bunch of friends. 



March has been full of Titanic Rehearsals and getting Student Council stuff together. I'm so excited for Titanic! It is easily one of the most amazing experiences I've had. At first I was skeptical about Titanic the Musical but now I'm in love with it! The music is so powerful and the way the directors, crew, designers and technicians have enhanced it is incredible! I'm also excited to share the experience with my sister, Shaundra, and my niece, Bela. Last night we were told that a Titanic historian is coming with his exhibit and will give a lecture on closing night. I was so excited I cried. There are many tears in Titanic. I feel such a connection with Titanic and all those souls who were aboard and I know that many others in the musical cast feel the same way.

Titanic opens tonight and I find out about Student Council tonight at a stomp so it's an exciting night!

Quick Catch Up

Well, I found that having school start (Go T-WOLVES!) makes it hard to have time to blog. School started and I felt that most of my friends...aren't at my school. I was lost and - - I guess I was also confused, of who I was supposed to be. Then I decided I could be whoever I made myself to be. Everything I do this year, is a part of who I will be years from now.
I decided I wanted to be in the school musical Footloose  and meet people through that. I made it and I'm glad I did. Although it's still tedious, I'm excited for what it will be.
However, I didn't realize until it was a little too late, that my school work was suffering and wasn't at the point I wanted it to be. Which has caused a sudden feeling of lingering stress until the term ends.
I am still apart of youth classes at the SCERA but this year I'm on ActingUp Back Up team. It isn't really ActingUp but not a YOUTH class either. I also teach a youth class too. I love being on the other end of the youth classes experience.
I wanted to be involved with many school activities this year also. I went to three football games: Homecoming, Orem-THS, and Timpview-THS. I even asked someone to our Sadie's (which will be on my birthday). Our girl's soccer team made it to the State Championships against Bonneville (once again) so I went to that game in Salt Lake at the Rio Tinto Stadium. Unfortunately, we lost 0-2. But I vote that Timpanogos High School has THE BEST school spirit!!

Let's Go on With the Show!

After 2 months of rehearsals, 14 performances, and 2 stages "Annie Get Your Gun" is all over. It was hard to think that after all the time of being with this cast and crew that it could end. On Saturday I think I had some kind of with drawl. I thought of one of my friends I made and panicked because I didn't know when  I could ever see her again. I was reassured somewhat by the invention of facebook. It's an easy way to keep in touch on a regular basis. It's hard to think that at one point I dreaded going to rehearsals because I didn't know very many people and rehearsals were very slow moving. After we were done learning the show it was easy to love it more. Since I was in the ensemble, I had time during the show I could sit and talk to people and get to know them. It also helped that I had to be there 2 hours before the show started to chat.

As the last performance at the SCERA Shell came, I was very sad to not have concession drinks, food and the half hour of time where we sat on top of the hill and ate our food. I would miss the out-door atmosphere...but not the bugs. I would miss being able to belt at the top of our lungs 'Old Fashioned Wedding'. I would miss the dressing room tents that required extra lighting so we wouldn't have trouble in the dark. I would miss the stars. I would miss the lightning during the show. I would miss the fresh air.
However, it was exciting to go to BYU and perform in the deJong theatre at the HFAC. It was exciting to have a HUGE green room. It was exciting to watch the show on monitors backstage. It was exciting to have mirrors that could change angles. It was exciting to be indoors. It was exciting to have clean smelling bathrooms. It was exciting to be squished into one women's changing room. It was exciting to find our way through the maze of stairs and doors to stage and the greenroom. It was exciting to receive loud applauses. It was exciting to have strangers shake everyone's hand in the cast. It was exciting to get flowers. It was exciting.
I would NOT miss the amount of hairspray I inhaled. Or the result of what hairspray combined with 400 degree curling iron did to my hair.
I would miss fawning and fighting over Frank Butler. I would miss my umbrella. I would miss backstage dances. I would miss the effort put in to not crack up laughing when we're Indians. I would miss the LONG ballroom scene. I probably won't miss that dress that didn't really fit. Or how my feet hurt and the end of the night.
I love my dear cast mates and the crew and the directors.

It's What I Thought I Saw

It's the end of my ninth grade year (hurrah!), and life has gotten so busy. This new post includes a new look to the blog.

Last week was my Seussical Jr. production with General Ruckus at the SCERA. I was a bird girl and I realized how much I learned from doing GR this year. It seemed that I was the oldest and one of the only "normal" people. I had a hard time through the year being happy with where I was. Doing Seussical I was able to get to know so many more people. These people were the ones who I thought where extremely weird and immature. I realized that first impressions can be the most inaccurate views people can ever have. I now either LOVE! the people I was able to get close to, or at least respect them and not be put off by their presence and comments.
Monday and Tuesday (yesterday), I was in the SYT Broadway Revue. I had the chance to be in the opening number with Acting Up and a few kids from other SYT classes. We did three Seussical numbers, Friendship (from Anything Goes), and the closing number This is Our Story (from Shrek the musical).
This was a great learning experience also. Compliments are true. Accept them. No one would lie to your face when they give you a compliment. Attitude is everything. Attitude makes memories sweet, bitter, enjoyable or forgettable. Lets make all our memories the best.
